 Criminal Investigations

The Bellbrook Police Department has one officer assigned primarily to Criminal Investigations.  This officer works a variety of shifts and is supported by members of the Patrol staff.  Examples of current functions performed by this officer include: Crime Scene processing (BPD has seven Evidence Technicians), Common Pleas, Juvenile,  and Municipal court liaison, City and County Prosecutor liaison, C.A.R.T. team member, and ADAP instructor.

The Department routinely investigates fraud, internet theft, credit card misuse, and identity theft.  We work closely with a diverse group of investigatory agencies, including; the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF), the Ohio Department of Liquor control, the Greene county ACE task force, the Unites States Secret Service, the Miami Valley Regional Crime Laboratory, and all regional agencies through their criminal investigation bureaus. We prioritize our criminal investigation resources on a weekly basis.  As an organization, the Bellbrook Police Department will pursue all investigatory leads on  criminal activity.

Our Department suggests a website on Identity Theft for all citizens requesting information regarding this type of crime.  This website provides numerous contacts, links to websites, and phone numbers for a wide variety of agencies involved in supporting victims.  Click here for the website.

The Bellbrook Police Department participates in the Ohio Attorney General’s office Passport program.  This program is designed to assist a victim of identity theft, by providing an identification for law enforcement that indicates the person’s identity has been previously stolen.  For more information on the program, click here.
