Q. What are the benefits of using a 65
gallon recycling tote rather than an 18 gallon
recycling bin?
A. The capacity of the 65 gallon recycling
tote is more than 3 times larger than the 18 gallon
bin. The 65 gallon tote has a lid which will reduce
the amount of debris and litter in the City. The 65
gallon tote has wheels to make it easier to roll to
the end of your driveway.
Q. Why is the pick-up for recycling only
every two weeks?
A. With the increased capacity for
recyclables, the City believes that bi-weekly
pick-up is more economical. It will cut the amount
of recycling truck trips in half, saving wear and
tear to the streets and cutting vehicle emissions.
Q. How do I know when it is “recycling”
week?
A. Every customer has received a schedule
for 2010 listing the pick-up dates for recycling.
Notifications will continue to be posted on
BellbrookTV and this website.
Q. Will my weekly trash collection be
affected?
A. No. Trash collection will still occur
every Friday and will not change.
Q. Can I keep my existing 18 gallon
recycling bin?
A. Yes, customers may choose to keep their
existing bin. However, recycling pick-up for all
customers will be bi-weekly.
Q.
When will my existing 18 gallon recycling bin be
returned to Allied Waste?
A.
Starting March 19th, if you place both the 18 gallon
recycling bin and the 65 gallon recycling tote at
the curb, Allied Waste will remove the 18 gallon
recycling bin.
Q. What items can be recycled?
A. -Paper Products – Newspapers
and inserts, magazines, catalogs, telephone books,
mixed office paper, mail and junk mail.
-Cardboard – Cardboard boxes, chipboard
(i.e. cereal and tissue boxes), corrugated
cardboard. Flatten boxes to have more available
space in your recycling tote.
-Plastics – Bottles and containers
labeled #1 & #2. Check the bottom of the container
to locate the plastics number (in a triangle).
-Metals – Steel, tin and aluminum. Please rinse
metal containers. Empty aerosol cans (non-hazardous
materials) are also acceptable.
-Glass – Unbroken jars and bottles (brown, green
and clear glass).
Q. What items can not be recycled?
A. -Plastic bottles and containers labeled
#3,4,6 or 7.

materials)
-Plastic grocery bags (please recycle these at a
grocery store)
-Food contaminated containers, such as pizza boxes
