The
City of Bellbrook was settled in 1816 and was named
for one of its founders, Stephen Bell. The City
first attained a population of over 5,000 in 1970
when Bellbrook annexed a large part of western
Sugarcreek Township. This led to official city
status in 1974. The current census numbers residents
at approximately 7,000 today. Bellbrook is unique
because it provides a full range of services without
a local income tax, being one of about 4 of Ohio’s
over 250 cities without an income tax. |

The Bellbrook Beautification Committee has made
their selections for the 2011 annual Beautification Awards. For many years,
volunteers from the community have taken part in
honoring homeowners with properties that are well
maintained and stand out from the rest. Ten homes
and several businesses are chosen each year to
receive the awards. A home or business may only win
an award once every five years.
For more information and
a list of the 2011 winners, go to the
Bellbrook Beautification Awards page. |

In the December
2010 City Newsletter, we announced a new volunteer
initiative.
Volunteer Bellbrook
is a new initiative by the City of Bellbrook
administrative staff to help connect community
volunteers with those in need.
All over our community, there are those in need of
assistance with property maintenance. On the other
hand, there are those who want to lend a hand to
help their neighbors.
The City wants to facilitate the conversation of
volunteerism. If you are elderly or disabled and
are not able to maintain your property with clearing
snow and ice or tall grass and brush, then let us
know of your need. We will do what we can to make
the connections. If you are willing and able to
lend a hand to your neighbors, please contact us and
we will let you
know if there are
any needs that are not being met.
For more information, please call the City
Administration Office at (937) 848-4666. More
information will be posted here as it becomes
available. To be included on the list of those
who need help or of those who are willing to
volunteer, please
email Don Buczek or call the number above.
Thank you in advance for your involvement! |
